Part one

The 2024 general election campaigns are well and truly underway.

Neither side had a restful bank holiday weekend, as they hit the campaign trail.

Sir Keir Starmer also found some time to give an exclusive interview with The Standard newspaper.

The Labour leader delivered his first major speech on Monday, in which he promised to end what he called ‘Tory chaos’ and protect the country’s national security.

If he becomes Prime Minister, Sir Keir vowed to end the “bashing of London”, and instead get more homes “built at speed” in the capital. Promising to work closely with London mayor, Sadiq Khan.

From Westminster, the Evening Standard’s Political Editor Nicholas Cecil, joins Rochelle Travers for The Standard podcast.

Cecil sat down with the hopeful PM in waiting, and reveals some of the key points from the exclusive chat, including more on what’s been promised, and even his choice for the England Euros squad selection.

But, can Sir Keir Stamer secure the position of Britain’s next Prime minister?

Part two

The Wagatha Christie saga that gripped the country so much it even became a show on Disney, and a West End hit.

Now, you might have thought that the case had completely come to an end when the High Court ruled in Coleen Rooney’s favour back in July 2022, but there’s a new update to the case.

Lawyers for both sides have stepped in front of a judge over legal bills accrued before the trial started.

For the latest the Evening Standard’s Courts Correspondent. Tristan Kirk, joins the podcast from the High Court where the hearing took place.
