It is a good day for the Pacific region at the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Masters Madrid, as South Korean team Gen.G secured the first Grand Finals slot of the tournament following a 2-1 victory over the Americas' Sentinels in the upper bracket finals on Saturday (23 March).

With a new roster and better form, Gen.G came into the competition as the Pacific’s first seed after claiming the VCT Pacific Kickoff championship last month.

Both Gen.G and Sentinels dominated the Swiss Stage, scoring 2-0 apiece to secure their Playoff slots.

At the upper bracket semifinals, Gen.G demolished their regional rival Paper Rex in a 2-0 sweep, while Sentinels outplayed LOUD in a tight series that ended in the North American team’s favour, 2-1.

As a result, both teams moved up to the upper bracket finals, where they faced off in a best-of-three.

The South Korean team dominated the first game on Split, where they took the first half 8-4, and gave almost no room to Sentinels in the second half 5-1 in a statement win.

However, the North American team put up a fight in the second game on Lotus, where they took the first half 7-5, and finished the second half with a 6-2 scoreline, to win one game against their South Korean opponents.

Gen.G bounced back in the third game decider on Breeze, with perfectly timed attacks that ended in a 9-3 for the first half, and a crippling 4-0 sweep in the second half, to win the third game, and the series and secure their slot at the Grand Finals.

Gen.G will be facing the winner of the Lower Bracket Final at the Grand Finals on Monday, 12:00 AM (Singapore Time).

Meanwhile, Sentinels have been relegated to the Lower Bracket Final, where they will face Paper Rex in a best-of-three on Saturday (23 March) at 11:00 PM.
