Albedo has returned for his second rerun in the second half of Genshin Impact version 3.1!

The Kreideprinz is a 5-star Geo sword user with a flexible kit, as he's one of the best sub DPS characters in the game while also being a good option for hypercarry teams who need a boost in Elemental Mastery.

Here’s everything you need to know about Albedo.

"Witness my great undertaking!"

Albedo is one of the best sub DPS characters in the game, as he only needs to drop his skill to deal damage from off-field before popping in to use his burst and switching out again. He's also fairly easy to build, as his damage scales off of DEF and his best weapons are also very accessible.

Albedo's skill, Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma, is his bread-and-butter. Using it creates a Solar Isotoma field, wherein a Transient Blossom is created every two seconds when enemies take damage. Transient Blossoms deal area-of-effect Geo DMG, which scales off of Albedo's DEF.

A flower-like platform is also located in the middle of the Solar Isotoma field, which elevates your character to a certain height and lets them perform a Plunging Attack.

Albedo's burst, Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide, deals AoE Geo DMG in front of him. If a Solar Isotoma is in the field when he unleashes his burst, seven Fatal Blossoms will also be generated which deals additional AoE Geo DMG.

Albedo's first passive, Calcite Might, boosts the damage dealt by Transient Blossoms by 25% against enemies with less than half health, letting your team finish off weakened enemies faster.

Albedo's second passive, Homuncular Nature, gives him good support capabilities as it increases your team’s Elemental Mastery by 125 for 10 seconds after using his burst.

Albedo also boasts a low cooldowns and energy costs for his skill and burst, allowing you to constantly deploy his Solar Isotoma and Tectonic Tide, given his Energy Recharge is sufficient.

Team compositions for Albedo

With Albedo’s flexibility, he can do well in a lot of team compositions that require additional off-field damage, the Elemental Mastery boost from his passive, or the Crystallize shields created by his abilities.

Here are some teams where Albedo is effective:

Hu Tao, Xingqiu/Yelan, Albedo, Zhongli

Albedo can act as another off-field sub DPS in this composition alongside Xingqiu or Yelan while also triggering the Geo Resonance alongside Zhongli, which increases the damage dealt by shielded characters while also decreasing the Geo RES of enemies.

Most importantly, Albedo gives Hu Tao some much-needed Elemental Mastery through his passive to increase the damage she does with Vaporize Charged Attacks.

Arataki Itto, Gorou, Albedo, Zhongli

A Mono Geo team for Itto is the only way to go considering Gorou is his dedicated support. And for Gorou to provide all the buffs he can give, all party members must be Geo.

Albedo can act as the off-field sub DPS for this party while also acting as the battery. When Itto's burst is in cooldown, Albedo can switch in and deal damage with his burst.

Xiao, Jean/Bennett, Albedo, Zhongli

Much like in the Hu Tao composition above, Albedo acts as the off-field sub DPS for this team while triggering the Geo Resonance buff.

This composition also turns into Xiao's best team if both Albedo and Jean are at C4. Albedo's C4 increases the Plunging Attack DMG of characters in his Solar Isotoma field by 30% while Jean's C4 decreases the Anemo RES of enemies in her burst's field by 40%.

That's a TON of investment, but if you want your Xiao to deal even more damage, then whale away.

Albedo's best artifacts and weapon

Albedo is a fairly easy character to build. Since his damage scales off of DEF, then his best artifact set is the 4-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams, which gives him a ton of DEF.

But if you’re not too keen on farming the Husk of Opulent Dreams domain or have yet to get better artifacts, you can opt for these alternative artifact sets or combinations:

2-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams + 2-piece Defender’s Will

This mixed set is geared towards gaining more DEF but without having to rely on the 4-piece effect of Husk of Opulent Dreams. This is a good filler option if you're still farming for a 4-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams.

4-piece Archaic Petra

Not only does the Archaic Petra's 2-piece set effect give a 15% Geo DMG bonus, its 4-piece buff gives a 35% Elemental DMG bonus to the element of the shield created by the Crystallize reaction. Since Albedo creates a lot of Crystallize shields, this set lets him become more of a buffer for the team.

2-piece Archaic Petra + 2-piece Noblesse Oblige

This mixed set plays more into Albedo’s Burst DPS capabilities by giving you a 15% Geo DMG bonus as well as a 20% Burst DMG increase.

2-piece Archaic Petra + 2-piece Defender’s Will

If you’re in want for more defense, the 2-piece effect of the 4-star artifact Defender’s Will will increase your DEF by 30%.

The main stats you should go for are as follows: DEF for your Sands, Geo DMG bonus for your Goblet, and either Crit Rate/Crit DMG or DEF for your Circlet.

For weapons, the best you can use for Albedo is the event-limited 4-star sword Cinnabar Spindle. It ascends with DEF and its passive increases his Elemental Skill DMG by 40% of his DEF.

However, if you missed the version 2.3 event that gave this weapon out for free, you can choose to use these swords instead:

  • Favonius Sword - increases your ER and particle regen, good for Battery Albedo

  • Harbinger of Dawn - this may only be a 3-star weapon, but the Crit DMG substat and Crit Rate increase passive is great for a DPS Albedo.

Albedo is featured in a double banner alongside Nilou in the second half of Genshin Impact version 3.1. The current version will run until 2 November.

Genshin Impact versions 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 will have shortened run times of five weeks instead of the usual six weeks, likely to catch up to the game's original release schedule after the release of version 2.7 was delayed back in April.
