Genshin Impact voice actor 'apologises' for abusive behaviour, denies sexual involvement with underage fans
Tighnari's English voice actor went offline a day before the allegations came out to 'seek therapy'
Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor for Tighnari in Genshin Impact, is currently under fire online after being accused of alleged abusive behaviour.
On Tuesday (7 February) the voice actor announced on his personal Twitter account that he was taking a break from his online activity to seek therapy.
Gindi claimed that the "influx of fans and fame" he gained from voicing Tighnari in Genshin Impact "have really messed me up."
"I know I smile a lot on camera and I seem very confident but the truth is this influx of fans and fame have really messed me up. My friends have recommended I take a break and seek therapy so I am. I'll return when the therapist says I should. Thank you for everything," said Gindi.
However, Gindi would return to Twitter with an official statement and apology. In a Twitlonger, Gindi affirms that his leaving social media was because of the serious allegations that would come to light a day after he announced his departure.
I owe an apology

Hours before Gindi's tweet confirming the allegations, Twitter user @FretCore posted a document that contained evidence of Gindi's offenses, which allegedly included emotional abuse, blackmail, sexism, and having sexual relations with underage fans.
FretCore said in a subsequent tweet that they were able to gather the information they posted as they are one of Gindi's main moderators for his Twitch and Discord channels.
Twitter user @phiotan corroborated FretCore's post, saying they were both moderators on Gindi's Discord, and posted their own evidence of the voice actor's abusive behaviour.
Other users have also come forward to post experiences supporting the allegations against Gindi, including a user who was allegedly sexually groomed by the voice actor, posting screenshots of their conversations.
Gindi would confirm in his Twitlonger apology that most of the accusations posited by these users to be true, while denying his alleged involvement with underaged fans.
A moderator of the official Genshin Impact subreddit said that they have relayed relevant information on the allegations against Gindi to developer HoYoverse. The developer has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Genshin Impact's voice director speaks out
Chris Faiella, the voice director for Genshin Impact's English dub, also came forward in support of those allegedly victimised by Gindi and said he will be informing HoYoverse of the situation.
"To say I'm angry, disappointed, and heartbroken about it all, would be an understatement. My heart goes out to anyone who has been victimized by this unacceptable and inappropriate behavior," said Faiella.
"Trust that I am doing everything that I can, using what limited power I do have, to rectify this situation and will absolutely inform the folks at miHoYo (HoYoverse)."
This is not the first time that a Genshin Impact voice actor has been in hot water for abusive and offensive behavior.
Back in October 2021, HoYoverse suspended its cooperation with Li Yuantao after it came to light that he committed adultery and manipulating his fans for sexual favours.
Li Yuantao was the Chinese voice actor for Oz, the familiar of the playable character Fischl. Zhao Yuecheng would later replace Li Yuantao as Oz's Chinese voice actor.
Based on that previous case, it is expected that Gindi could be replaced as Tighnari's voice actor.
The voice actors for many Genshin Impact characters have been at the centre of many controversies in the past. With that said, most of them were actually the targets of harassment, unlike in the case of Gindi.
Last August, the English voice actor for Dori was harassed after members of the Genshin Impact community on Twitter directed their ire towards the character's depiction towards her voice actor.
Earlier this month, the English voice actor for Candace was also harassed for supporting another voice actor that condemned 'fujoshi', a term commonly used to refer to straight women who consume anime media about gay men, for fetishising homosexual relationships.
