Genshin Impact: Kazuha returns! Here are his best weapons, artifacts, and teams

Genshin Impact’s version 2.8 will feature the long-awaited banner of 5-star Anemo sword user and fan-favorite Inazuman wanderer (not Scaramouche), Kaedehara Kazuha.

He is an amazing support that can buff your elemental damage, but can also be a formidable damage dealer when needed.

But do you really need me to convince you to pull for the most anticipated character rerun in the history of Genshin Impact?

Well, here’s that one last push you need if you’re still having second thoughts about getting Kaedehara Kazuha!

Meta at your fingertips

While Kazuha’s poetic and serene nature make him seem like he’s a soft character, don’t let that fool you.

He can compose beautiful haiku and destroy your enemies as easily as he breathes. He’s a (wandering) Samurai for a reason.

He has had one of the most extreme glo-ups in Genshin Impact history — a veritable dark horse that took everyone by surprise.

What once was a character getting flamed on for being a “5-star Sucrose” suddenly overtook other meta 5-stars, becoming an absolute necessity in higher Spiral Abyss floors.

Besides having a fun and unique playstyle, Kazuha’s kit is geared towards amping up your team’s elemental damage and at the same time serving a good chunk of Anemo DMG on his own.

Kazuha's Elemental Skill, Chihayaburu, lets him suck in enemies with a vortex-like Anemo jump, which can Swirl other elements, and plunging to deal a devastating amount of infused or pure Anemo DMG.

His skill can also stagger the newer, heavier enemies better than Venti can, and although his Crowd Control can’t compare to the Anemo Archon, he can CC more consistently.

Not only that, Kazuha also has the same plunge multiplier as Xiao, which means he can deal a ton of damage.

Another similar thing that Kazuha has with Xiao is that he can use his skill while gliding, which aids greatly in map exploration.

But the biggest selling point for Kazuha is his Elemental Burst Kazuha Slash. This self-made technique summons a whirlwind of Anemo, which, when infused with the element of your main DPS, can also deal additional elemental damage in a wide area-of-effect.

His passives are also designed to amp up your damage.

The most important being his A2: Poetics of Fuubutsu, which has Kazuha increase your elemental damage bonus by 0.04% by each point of his total Elemental Mastery when your preferred element is swirled with either his skill or his burst.

Which characters work best with Kazuha?

As an Anemo character, Kazuha can easily fill in a support or dub-DPS role in your team.

That being said, Kazuha is the standard sub/support in Hypercarry teams. If you want to see big damage numbers, having this wandering swordsman in your composition will aid you greatly in your pursuit.

Here are a few of my favorite premium teams with Kazuha as the sub-DPS and Swirl buffer:

  • Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, Bennett, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Thoma/Zhongli, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Kamisato Ayato, Yun Jin, Sangonomiya Kokomi/Zhongli/Bennett, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Kamisato Ayaka, Shenhe/Rosaria, Sangonomiya Kokomi/Mona, Kaedehara Kazuha

The logic behind these hypercarry team compositions is that Kazuha greatly amps up your Main DPS’ elemental damage when you Swirl their element.

But if you’re not a Dolphin (halfway to becoming a whale) like I am, Kazuha is in no way locked behind a premium 5-star team. He can work well with your favorite 4-star damage dealers, and can even be your own Main DPS if you so choose.

How to build Kazuha

To maximise Kazuha’s potential as your support, you need to hone in on his Poetics of Fuubutsu passive. This means you have to stack as much Elemental Mastery as humanly possible through your artifacts and weapons.

You also need to equip him with a 4-piece Viridescent Venerer set to fully enjoy the artifact set’s passive, which further increases his Swirl DMG by 60%.

The 4-piece set also decreases the opponent's Elemental Resistance to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s.

This rounds out Kazuha’s kit into a top-tier support character, as again, his A2 passive increases your elemental damage.

As such, you can go forward with a full Elemental Mastery build, meaning you must look for an Elemental Mastery main stat for your sands, goblet, and circlet.

But if you also want to make Kazuha a sub/main DPS, you can opt for stacking EM through your artifacts’ substats instead, and gunning for ATK% sands, Anemo DMG Bonus goblet, and a Crit Rate/Crit DMG circlet.

For weapons, of course it’s ideal to get his 5-star best-in-slot which is Freedom Sworn, but Kazuha’s pretty F2P friendly, too.

You can craft the sword Iron Sting, which ascends with Elemental Mastery, as both your support and sub weapon of choice. High refinement of this weapon can increase the wielder’s damage by up to 12% for 6 seconds when dealing Elemental DMG.

Other support weapons you can use are:

  • Sacrificial Sword

  • Favonius Sword

But you can also choose to let him wield these weapons when you opt to make him your main damage dealer:

  • Mistsplitter Reforged

  • The Black Sword

  • Blackcliff Longsword

Kazuha’s an amazing unit to have in the game, simply because he’s an all-arounder that can give you high returns at little investment. He’s a necessity to your teams and frankly, it would be a mistake to skip him when you’re gunning to maximise your damage.

Kazuha features in a double character banner alongside the 5-star Pyro catalyst character Klee, who is getting her second rerun. Both characters will be available to wish for from 13 July to 1 August.
