George Clooney addresses Batman future after The Flash cameo

George Clooney has addressed his potential future as Batman following his surprise cameo in The Flash.

The actor, who played Bruce Wayne in infamous 1997 movie Batman & Robin, was one of a number of past Batman actors to pop up in The Flash earlier this year alongside Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck.

While the appearance wasn’t trailed ahead of the movie's release, Clooney's cameo has raised the possibility that we could see more of him in the future.

However, the actor has firmly put to bed any rumours, quipping to The Hollywood Reporter: “Oh yeah. Somehow there were not a lot of requests for me to reprise my role as Batman, I don’t know why.”

Alongside Clooney, The Flash saw a surprise appearance from Nicolas Cage as an alternate version of Superman, and the star recently reflected on his cameo, having been tipped to appear in Tim Burton's canned 1990 Superman movie.

"Well, I was glad I didn't blink. For me, it was the feeling of being actualised," he told USA Today. "Even that look for that particular character, finally seeing it on screen, was satisfying.

"But as I said, it's quick. If you really wanted to know what I was going do with that character, look at my performance in City of Angels."

Cage added: "I was supposed [to play] Clark Kent after that [in Superman Lives], and I was already developing this alien otherness playing this angel.

"That is a perfect example of the tonality you would've gotten for Kal-El and for Clark Kent: Clark would've been a little more amusing but Kal-El [had] the sensitivity and the goodness and the vulnerability and all those feelings that were kind of angelic and also terrifying."
