Geylang Methodist student, 13, dies after goal post falls on him

A 13-year-old boy died on Monday morning (24 April) at Geylang Methodist Secondary School in Geylang East Central after a goal post fell on him.

According to media reports, the boy was playing football with classmates when he grabbed the goal post. It fell on him and struck his head.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force received a call for assistance at about 9.35am, and an ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The boy, who had sustained head injuries and was unconscious, was conveyed to the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. CPR was performed on him en route. However, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The police were also alerted to the incident and are investigating the case, which has been classified as unnatural death.
