Gillian Anderson has addressed her "winning" legacy within the LGBTQ+ community.

It all began with the Sex Education actor getting tagged on Twitter with a sweet meme.

It consisted of a person labelled 'Gillian Anderson made me gay' high-fiving a line of people with the labels: 'GenX-Files', 'X-Files Bisexuals', 'Elder Millennials', 'Millennials and late bloomers who watched The Fall' and 'Gen Z Jean Milburn MILF cohort'.

These of course related to Anderson's iconic turns as FBI special agent Dana Scully, DSU Stella Gibson and sex therapist Jean Milburn.

Its caption read: "Thank you, Gillian, your legacy stays winning."

In two follow-up posts, @Melethonomia added: "A shout out to any Boomers in the 90s who had their awakening, or heck maybe you had it this century. You know what I'm just gonna tag @GillianA to say THANK YOU for uniting the generations of queers."

To the user's probable amazement, this garnered a retweet from the award-winning star herself, as Anderson replied: "Always thrilled to be of service" alongside wink and rainbow flag emojis.

This comes after she exclusively spoke to Yahoo Entertainment UK about her obsession with true crime.

"I've only really got into true crime since I've been doing comedy. I've been doing comedy for the past four years or so. Before that I was only just doing serial killers and really creepy stuff and I couldn't take any more, but now I'm obsessed with true-crime," revealed Anderson.

Fixation soon morphed into a job opportunity when she appeared in last year's gothic tale The Pale Blue Eye opposite Christian Bale.
