Girl, 11, Who Was Sleeping on Couch and Shot in Drive-by Shooting Will Be Taken Off Life Support, Mom Says

"Now, I have nothing. They took my only kid, my only baby," said Glenn's mom.

An 11-year-old girl shot in a drive-by shooting in Detroit while she was sleeping on her aunt's couch on Tuesday will be taken off life support, her mother has said.

Lamara Glenn's mother, Brandy Crenshaw, told Fox 2 Detroit Friday that the girl would be taken off life support.

"Now, I have nothing. They took my only kid, my only baby," she said.  "[It's something] I never imagined ever thinking about."

Lamara was sleeping on her aunt's couch in Detroit when about 23 bullets were shot into the home, Assistant Chief of the Detroit Police Department Charles Fitzgerald said in a statement posted to Facebook on Tuesday. According to Fitzgerald's statement, Lamara was shot in the head and she was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Fox 2 Detroit previously reported that four suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting hours after it occurred. On Thursday, a fifth suspect was arrested. The suspects are allegedly believed to be a part of a car theft ring in the area and are also allegedly connected to the death of a 17-year-old in a shooting earlier this month, according to authorities.

Police have not released the name of the suspects.

On Friday, the local news outlet reported that doctors at Children's Hospital of Detroit said in a statement that there was "nothing that they can do to save this little girl's life."

Crenshaw started a GoFundMe account to cover some of her expenses associated with the shooting.
