Glen Powell and the cast of Twisters got some first-hand storm chasing experience!

The 35-year-old actor revealed at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 11 that he and his fellow cast members decided to continue their storm chasing adventures after filming wrapped on the sequel.

“Storm chasing, we went, we survived,” he told PEOPLE. “And probably behind us, you're going to see a lot of the actual storm chasers that we actually went storm chasing with.”

Powell didn’t specify which of his cast members — including Daisy Edgar-Jones, Anthony Ramos and Brandon Perea — went along for the ride, but he appeared to have enjoyed his time dabbling in the activity.

When asked if storm chasing was a “new hobby” of his, Powell joked that “it takes a long time to travel across the world chasing storms, but maybe I'll find it. Yeah.”

The Hit Man star walked the red carpet for the premiere in a coal suit jacket with matching slacks. He was photographed posing alongside his costar Edgar-Jones and was accompanied throughout the night by his rescue dog, Brisket, who also has a role in the film.

Earlier this week, Powell celebrated the pup’s role in the film on Instagram, posting a series of photos of Brisket on the set interacting with several of the film’s cast and crew. In June, he told PEOPLE that Brisket got very close with the Twisters team.

"Everybody can be a dog dad, but I really feel like I bring him everywhere, so he really has so many co-parents," he said. He added that while filming Twisters, "every department was taking care of Brisket," including Edgar-Jones.

A standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister — which starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton — the 2024 installment follows social media influencer Tyler Owens (Powell), the Internet's "Tornado Wrangler," as he convinces his friend Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones) to chase storms with him.

In a 2023 interview with Vogue, Powell clarified that Twisters isn't trying to remake the original, and that "it's a completely original story" set “in the modern day.”

Powell shared that his Top Gun: Maverick costar Tom Cruise, who also attended the film’s London premiere, told him that large-scale movies need to be able to connect with "everyone around the world in every territory," which Powell said is a key element to Twisters' appeal.

"Humans-versus-weather is a very universal idea," Powell explained. "How powerless we really are in the face of these cataclysmic forces."

Twisters hits theaters on July 19.
