Gogglebox favourites Stephen Webb has recalled he and Daniel Lustig being subjected to horrific verbal abuse in Brighton yesterday (June 27).

Posting an LGBTQ+ rainbow flag on Instagram, Stephen discussed the incident at the hands of homophobes with the caption: "Last night Daniel and I were called 'f**king f***ots', this was on hove sea front!

"The fight continues! Be aware be safe! #gay #pride #homophobiastillexists."

The couple's fanbase was there in a heartbeat to show their support.

"Just keep doing what you do!", said one user, while another commented: "So sorry and angered to hear this. Why do people even care what someone else's sexuality is ffs #saddos ... WELL WE ALL LOVE YAS!"

A third person said: "Who do I have to fight? In all seriousness though, I'm so sorry xxx."

Stephen's story even attracted the sympathies of Oscar-nominated Good Will Hunting star Minnie Driver, who posted a red heart emoji in response.

The latest regular run of Gogglebox concluded recently, with Channel 4 now airing the fifth Celebrity Gogglebox series.

Davina McCall, Jane McDonald, and Katherine Ryan are some of the stars who have signed up for the new episodes.

Gogglebox airs and streams on Friday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.
