Other notable honorees included Prime Video’s Expats, HBO’s The Sympathizer, Netflix’s animated series Blue Eye Samurai, the 20th/Hulu comedy Quiz Lady, The Morning Show‘s Greta Lee, and SNL‘s Bowen Yang, with winners being voted on by Asian Pacific leaders in entertainment.

“Asian stories and talent have undeniably taken center stage this year, showcasing a remarkable breadth of narratives and performances that resonate across broad audiences,” said Tiffany Chao, Head of Entertainment and Media at Gold House. “With an array of outstanding shows gracing our screens, the expansion of the Gold List to television categories is a testament to the rich diversity and excellence within the industry. We’re excited to honor both established icons and rising stars, and hope that all receive deserved recognition from the wider industry for their work.”

Gold House came to introduce the Gold List, spanning seven TV categories, after years of of success advocating for due recognition for Asian Pacific creativity via a film-focused version of the list, spotlighting such exceptional titles as Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Boy and the Heron, RRR, Minari and Parasite which went on to win Oscars, among myriad other accolades.

Describing itself as a leading cultural ecosystem that unites, invests in, and champions Asian Pacific creators and companies to power tomorrow for all, the organization notes that its list emerges at a time when series created by and starring Asian talent have never been more in the spotlight. While in the 75-year history of the Primetime Emmys, only 1.1% of awards have been awarded to Asian creatives or Asian-led projects, the last year has seen Asian-led projects break records for the most-watched Netflix show globally in the second half of 2023 (One Piece) and the most-watched FX premiere ever on Hulu (Shōgun), with Netflix’s Beef sweeping at the 75th Emmys with historic wins for creator Lee Sung Jin and stars Ali Wong and Steven Yeun.
