‘The Golden Bachelor’ Wedding Welcomes Strong Live+SD Audience, Up 8% From Season Average

ABC has something to celebrate after its first televised Bachelor wedding in years.

The Golden Wedding welcomed 5.22M live + same-day viewers for Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s nuptials on Thursday, according to Nielsen data.

That outpaces the season’s 4.83M average viewers by 8%. The special was also up 5% among adults 18-49, managing a 0.63 rating.

These numbers are expected to go up in delayed viewing, as is typical with The Bachelor franchise. Deadline will report the multiplatform+7 day data when it becomes available.

ABC also touts that The Golden Wedding was the top social entertainment program on Thursday with 166,500 social interactions, which topped the season finale by 11,500.

The Golden Bachelor has been a ratings darling for ABC, consistently raking in some of the biggest audiences that the franchise has seen in years.

In 3-day viewing, the finale approached an audience of 9M across linear and streaming, marking the franchise’s most-watched multiplatform telecast since the Season 24 finale of The Bachelor. It only seemed fitting that ABC would cash in on that success with a live broadcast wedding, something they haven’t opted for since Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici tied the knot in 2014.

The Golden Bachelor is produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon.
