A rabbi has denied sexually touching a woman in north London and will stand trial.

Aaron Halpern, also known as Chaim Halpern, 65, of Golders Green, has been charged with two counts of sexual assault on a woman alleged to have taken place between June 1 and July 31 2022.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges at Hendon Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Scotland Yard began investigating Halpern after being made aware of an interview broadcast in December 2022.

During the broadcast an unnamed woman, who appeared anonymously, alleged she had been the victim of non-recent sexual offences said to have taken place in the capital.

Halpern was arrested in March 2023.

A trial date will be set on June 4.
