Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell 'Don't Agree on Everything': 'His Politics Are Different Than Mine' (Exclusive)

The actress revealed what the "sticking glue of our relationship" has always been

Goldie Hawn is sharing what keeps her and Kurt Russell bonded even when they don't see eye to eye on everything.

PEOPLE has an exclusive clip from the actress's appearance on the April 15 episode of SiriusXM’s Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, during which she explains what the "sticking glue of our relationship" has always been.

Hawn, 78, points out, "We don't agree on everything. His politics are different than mine. You know, there's all these things that could divide you. But the one thing that we have, the greatest thing in God's world, is our family."

"That is where we thrive and where we have incredible amounts of joy and really focus on that," she adds.

The star says she was "very attracted" to her Overboard costar Russell, now 73, from the start, but "what really caught me" and solidified her falling for him was his caring for her children.

Hawn had two kids, Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson with ex-husband Bill Hudson by that point. (Russell has Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley, and he and Hawn later welcomed son Wyatt Russell.)

"He is a family man," Hawn says in the clip, adding, "I can't explain it, but he was the one for me. It wasn't just because he was sexy and handsome and all of those things you get turned on by; it was because he matched my devotion to children to be number one."

She adds, "The seduction was really his personality and his focus on the children."

In an interview on Who's Talking to Chris Wallace? last year, Hawn shared why she and longtime partner Russell never married.

"Relationships are hard. They’re not always easy. There’s all kinds of hurdles we go through. There’s things that we believe in, things we don’t believe in, we agree on," she said at the time. "So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important, so you can hold on to yourself...."
