Gospel Singer Bobbi Storm Says She Was Nearly Kicked Off Delta Flight for Singing

"I sing for the Lord," Storm can be heard saying in her Instagram clip as a flight crew member asks her to be seated

Bobbi Storm was told she would not be able to fly if she did not follow a Delta flight leader's "instructions" to be quiet.

On Friday, the gospel singer, 36, posted a video on Instagram, which captured her exchange with the airline employee, who was asking her to sit down.

"I sing for the Lord," Storm can be heard saying in the clip as she backed away down the aisle. "I'm doing what the Lord is telling me to do."

As the man continued to ask her to go back to her seat, she noted that "the seatbelt sign is off," and then shared how she is currently on the charts for her singing. When she finally sat down, she told the people around her how she "just found out" she is "up for two Grammys."

"My very first time, you guys," she said as some people clapped and cheered as she kept talking about her music.

While Storm is not individually nominated, she is part of the Maverick City Music group, which is nominated for best gospel album and best contemporary Christian music performance/song.

"Are you going to be quiet?" the flight attendant eventually asked, with Storm responding, "But they're enjoying it."

"I'm not enjoying it, so I'm asking you to please be quiet," he said. "That's a yes or no answer please."

Storm continued to defend her right to speak.

"I'm your flight leader, I need you to follow my instruction," the man continued. "If you're not able to follow my instructions, you will not be able to take this flight."

"What do you guys think?" Storm asked her fellow travelers, who remained silent.

"If you are the person in charge of it all, that's fine," Storm finally said as the man thanked her for accepting what he was saying.

A rep for Delta told PEOPLE: "Delta has been in contact with the customer. For the safety of our customers and crew, it's always important to follow crew instructions."

In a follow-up post on Saturday, Storm confirmed that Delta reached out and made things "right" with her.

"Case closed and again GOD GETS THE GLORY!!!!! 🥹🫶🏽🙌🏾 Thank you @delta executives for reaching out and making this right with me!!!" she captioned her post.

Storm said she didn't want the man to be "reprimanded" or lose his job, she just "wants people to keep in mind how to treat each other."

The songwriter's comments section had widely mixed feelings about the whole situation.

"I’m sorry, but he was not wrong," one person wrote. "The plane is not your stage. It’s a time and place for everything."

Added another, "As a retired flight attendant the way you were treated was unacceptable."
