The CW has cast Hellraiser legend Doug Bradley as the iconic villain Joe Chill in its Batman spin-off Gotham Knights.

According to Deadline, Bradley — who's best known for his portrayal of Pinhead in the Hellraiser horror movie franchise — will make an appearance in episode 6 of Gotham Knights as the "Patron Saint of Bad Guys".

Joe Chill, the man responsible for gunning down Bruce Wayne's parents, is scheduled for execution after many years on death row — but not before he shares a few parting secrets.

Speaking of the casting news, producers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux and Chad Fiveash said in a statement that they considered only Bradley for the role.

"When casting the iconic role of Joe Chill, arguably the man who created Batman, there was only one name we considered… Doug Bradley.

"We needed an actor with the kind of gravitas that would do justice to such a seminal character in DC Comics canon. And who better to embody the role of the classic Gotham fiend than the man whose legendary portrayal of another classic fiend — Pinhead in the Hellraiser franchise — continues to terrify generations of horror fans?"

Bradley's Joe Chill won't be the only villain in town. The first trailer for Gotham Knights released last year gave fans a glimpse of Supernatural star Misha Collins as Harvey Dent, aka supervillain Two-Face.

Set in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's death, Gotham Knights will follow a group of young heroes from Gotham City who come together to solve the mystery of who killed Batman after his adopted son Turner Hayes, played by Oscar Morgan, is framed for the murder.

Gotham Knights is set to premiere in the US on March 14. It will later air on the BBC in the UK.
