SINGAPORE — A 42-year-old GrabFood delivery rider has died in an accident involving his motorcycle and a truck along Gambas Avenue on Friday (20 December).

The police said they were alerted to the accident at 11.50am involving both vehicles along Gambas Avenue towards Woodlands Avenue 8.

The male motorcyclist was pronounced dead by a paramedic at the scene, they added.

A police investigation into the accident is ongoing.

In photos of the accident’s aftermath, shared on Facebook by digital news platform The Local Society, a blue police tent could be seen near a motorcycle lying on its side on the road.

A green food delivery bag with the Grab logo is attached to the motorcycle. In front of the tent and motorcycle is a truck emblazoned with the name of waste management and recycling company 800 Super.

In response to media queries, a Grab spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened to learn about the accident and are reaching out to the family to offer our support and assistance. As investigations are ongoing, we are unable to provide further comments."

The spokesperson did not respond to queries on whether the rider was on a job when the accident occurred.

An 800 Super spokesperson said that the company is aware of the accident and would not be making any comment as the case is currently under investigation, in response to queries from Yahoo News Singapore.
