Bookmakers have made Graham Potter their early favourite for the vacant manager’s role at Bournemouth.

The former Chelsea boss has been out of work since being sacked by the Blues in April, having won only 12 of his 31 games at Stamford Bridge.

Bournemouth made the shock decision to sack Gary O’Neil on Monday with reports suggesting the manager learned of his fate with a phone call at 6am.

It has been suggested that the Cherries handed O’Neil the reins on a permament basis in November, with their first choice unavailable at the time. That manager is now said to be available and once again Bournemouth’s ideal candidate.

Another early favourite in bookies’ odds is Jesse Marsch, who is at 7/1 behind Potter at 7/2.

Steven Gerrard, recently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, is at 9/1.
