The Great British Bake Off and Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has unveiled a new project — and it's not a cookbook.

After winning GBBO back in 2012, Whaite made it to the final of Strictly in 2021 with professional dancer Johannes Radebe as the show's first male same-sex partnership.

Turning his hand to something slightly different, the Bake Off alum has announced that his sixth book will be a memoir titled Dancing on Eggshells: Kitchen, ballroom and the messy inbetween.

Whaite took to Instagram to share a picture of the book's cover and some details about its content.

"PINCH. ME. MOMENT. I'm so excited to be sharing with you the cover of my sixth book, my memoir, Dancing on Eggshells: Kitchen, ballroom and the messy inbetween," the caption reads.

"Although I'm practically a foetus, I've got a lot more to share than you'd think would fit into my 34 years.

"I wanted to tell my story about performance - not just in my career, but in fulfilling a role throughout my life to keep myself safe - like many LGBTQ+ kids do. The book deals with my struggles of bulimia and body dysmorphia, alcoholism and seeking external validation."

He added: "I talk candidly about the mistakes I've made (including joining OnlyFans). But ultimately, I wanted to speak of how above all else, I believe in love and forgiveness."

Whaite also used the post to thank Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies for providing a quote for the book cover, which reads: "We come for the glitter, but instead we get the grit, in stories told with insight, tenderness and joy. What a privilege to read such honesty."

Dancing on Eggshells is available for pre-order now on Amazon, and will be published on August 24.
