The Greatest Showman circus extravaganza is coming to London
A new circus show inspired by the hit film The Greatest Showman is coming to London with one of theatre’s most famous family names in charge.
Simon Hammerstein, grandson of legendary lyricist Oscar Hammerstein, is creative director of Come Alive! The Greatest Showman.
The show, described as a “circus spectacular inspired by the 20th Century Fox Motion Picture”, will feature songs from the film and is due to open at a yet-to-be announced venue in Autumn.
The 2017 film starred Hugh Jackman as circus owner PT Barnum with Michelle Williams, Zac Efron and Zendaya among the cast.
It was a huge success taking in hundreds of millions of pounds at the box office and winning Grammy and Golden Globe awards - as well as being nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for This Is Me.
The soundtrack album was the UK’s most streamed album for 18 months after its release. Jackman also completed a huge worldwide tour with his live show including music from the film.
The show is produced by Outside The Box Amusements (OBTA) who recently worked with legendary rapper Usher on his sold out residences in Las Vegas and Paris. The company has also worked with Cirque du Soleil and Disney Studios in Los Angeles.
Mr Hammerstein is also the man behind the infamous Box nightclub which has venues in Manhattan and London’s West End.
The Soho version hit headlines when stars including Emma Watson, Kate Moss and Prince Harry partied there amid gossip of partygoers spending thousands of pounds to guarentee a table and splashing up to £20,000 on bottles of champagne.
