Grey's Anatomy fans blast Ellen Pompeo’s 'underwhelming' final episode
Grey's Anatomy finally aired Ellen Pompeo's exit as Doctor Meredith Grey, and fans were unimpressed.
It was announced earlier this year that the title character would be stepping back from the show after 19 seasons, but would continue to narrate the episodes.
'I’ll Follow the Sun' was Pompeo's last episode as a full-time cast member, and featured staff at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital throwing a goodbye party for Meredith as she prepared to head to Boston.

But leaving things open for a return, Meredith told them: "I’m only going to Boston and you know I’ll probably be here next week."
It also left her romance with Dr Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) up in the air.
A confrontation about their feelings for each other saw Nick fail to respond when Meredith told him she loved him, although he did end up chasing her to the airport at the last minute.
When his effort was thwarted, he called her to blurt out: "I love you. I fell in love with you the first day I met you, I fell in love with you the second day I met you, and I’ve loved you every minute of every day that I’ve known you."

After a tense silence, Meredith said: "I can’t quite hear you. We are about to take off. I’ll call you when we get settled."
It's fair to say that after a dramatic 19 seasons, including Meredith losing both her parents, her sister, her husband, her friend George, being involved in a plane crash and surviving a bomb, a gunman and near drowning, viewers were unimpressed with the send-off.
"Whoever wrote this farewell Ep for Meredith GREY…. I hope your pillow is hot on both sides. This was UNDERWHELMING," one wrote on Twitter.
"408 episodes, 19 seasons, 18 years as the main character and this was the goodbye Meredith Grey got – such a disappointment for such an iconic role. Meredith and Ellen deserved better. #GreysAnatomy," another posted.

Grey's Anatomy season 19 airs on Thursdays on ABC in the US. The show streams on Disney+ in the UK, where new episodes premiere on Wednesdays.
