Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has snuck in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's very first F-bomb.

In a preview clip released on YouTube over the weekend, the titular ragtag group of superheroes are about to hit the road for a mission, but Nebula (Karen Gillan) struggles to use the handle to open the car's passenger door.

"There's a button under the handle... press that in!" says a frustrated Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

After initially confusing the keyhole for the button, Nebula finally manages to press it. "OK, now what?" she asks.

"Open the f**king door!" Star-Lord replies.

Over on Twitter, a fan asked director James Gunn about this uncensored sequence.

"Is there only one or more?" they wrote, bringing up the swear word.

"You can only have one in a PG 13 movie. That said, it wasn't planned – I told Chris to add it on set and it just made the moment funnier, so we kept," Gunn replied.

It has also recently been confirmed that Guardians 3 will delve into Rocket Raccoon's past.

"Our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere, but it isn't long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket's turbulent past," an official synopsis for the movie reads.

"Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket's life — a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 arrives in UK cinemas on May 3, and two days later in the US. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
