Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 stars Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter have praised the filming style of director James Gunn.

The upcoming superhero film will be Gunn’s final involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his move to DC Studios, with the latest instalment set to be the last entry in the Guardians franchise.

Iwuji and Poulter, who play the High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock respectively, praised Gunn for his work on the film.

"We developed a sort of vocabulary together where I know that he likes to see what I bring. We see if it matches with what he has," Iwuji exclusively told Digital Spy. "Many scenes in Peacemaker started one way and ended in a completely different way because he was open to saying: 'We've got it, what else can we do with it?'

"He kept that same modus operandi when we were doing this to a higher skill, because there were a hell of a lot more bigger scenes to explore a bit. It helped to know that James was there," he added.

Poulter, who serves as the film’s villain, also spoke about Gunn, telling Digital Spy that it was always clear what the director wanted from his cast: “Whatever expectations I had were superseded by working with James and seeing him on set and how he conducts himself – his level of organisation is unbelievable.

"He storyboards the whole movie [and] knows exactly what he wants," he added. "Like Chuk said, he then [gives us] space to play and experiment. He has this amazing line that you always want to hear as an actor which is: 'do whatever you want.' Once he's got what he needs, he allows you that opportunity and it just makes for such a great experience."

The film, which is due to be released later this week, has opened to positive reviews thus far, with the Rotten Tomatoes approval rating currently sitting at 81%.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is released in UK cinemas on May 3 and in US cinemas on May 5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
