Marvel has revealed a new trailer for season two of Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off I Am Groot.

Premiering on Disney+ from September 6, there are five new shorts following Baby Groot as he explores the universe without the company of his fellow guardians - coming face-to-face, or nose-to-nose, with new and colourful creatures and environments.

In the colourful, minute-long teaser, we see Groot transfixed by a spaceship selling a variety of intergalactic treats, before causing mischief across several planets and uttering "I am Groot" along the way.

Vin Diesel is, of course, back as the voice of Groot. Kirsten Lepore has also returned to write and direct the new episodes, with Craig Rittenbaum and Alex Scharf handling production.

Meanwhile, Guardians director James Gunn recently weighed in touching on a fan theory about Groot's dialogue at the end of the third film.

The character is known for repeating "I am Groot" over and over as his only line of dialogue throughout the film.

Despite only ever speaking the same three words, Groot's fellow Guardians have always been able to understand exactly what the character is saying while the audience have been largely left out of the loop.

However, in the closing moments of Vol. 3, Groot told his companions "I love you, guys" before the gang parted ways.

Following the film's release, Gunn revealed that the deviation from Groot's usual dialogue signals that fans no longer need a Groot-to-English translator after getting to know the characters over an extended period of time.

"Yes, that's exactly what it means," Gunn confirmed on Twitter after a fan asked asked about the heartwarming theory.

I Am Groot season 2 premieres on September 6 on Disney+. All three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
