WARNING: Clear the room of anybody under the age of 16 before reading this!

American beauty Gwyneth Paltrow has raised eyebrows by publishing a Q&A guide on how to enjoy safe anal sex on her lifestyle website Goop.

The site released its second annual Sex Issue on Thursday and it includes an in-depth (there it is) interview with psychoanalyst Paul Joannides on the subject of anal intercourse.

Paltrow and Joannides cover areas such as ‘Do people orgasm from anal stimulation?’ and ‘Does it usually take a few tries to enjoy anal?’.

Another question presented to the expert asks, ‘What should we be telling our kids about anal?’

Joannides surmised: ‘There are more important things we need to be talking about first (women’s orgasms, about masturbation, about the importance of exploring a partner’s body)’

You will definitely sit up straight when reading it.

The article leaves no stone unturned and teaches readers how to control their sphincters. Don’t worry if you didn’t know what they are (we didn’t!). They’re the muscles just inside your bum that allow you to control your bowel movements.

Goop points out that it’s important to “relax” them if you want to be on the receiving end of anal sex.

The article also debunks the myth that everyone is ‘doing it’ and says in fact, only about 10 to 15 percent of straight couples regularly partake.

But Goop’s Sex Issue isn’t all about fun and games in the bedroom – though it includes a guide to having casual sex and… a sex-themed shop featuring lingerie, oils and sex toys, of course.

The issue debates the ethics of porn and includes a piece on the importance of sex education for young girls.

Paltrow recently said she feel “liberated from the chains” of other people’s opinions.

The 44-year-old star told Women’s Health: “It’s a blessing to be liberated from the chains of other people’s perceptions of you. It’s part of wellness, working at that. I’ve gotten to a point where I like myself. I do my best as a person. I also have nothing to hide.”

And the ‘Iron Man 3’ actress – who has children Apple, 12, and Moses, 10, with her ex-husband Chris Martin – says the trick to not being affected by people’s criticisms is to not have any “judgements about yourself.”

She added: “When someone doesn’t like something you do, or doesn’t share your interest in something, that doesn’t have anything to do with you. One of the best things someone ever said to me was that the only time criticism hurts is if you have a judgment about yourself about that very thing. If someone’s like, ‘You d**k, you have red hair!’ and you’ve got brown hair, it doesn’t bother you.”
