Halsey reveals dual lupus and lymphoproliferative disorder diagnoses

Halsey is revealing the diagnosis that has them "lucky to be alive."

On Wednesday, the singer revealed that in 2022, they were diagnosed with lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

Systemic lupus erythematosus, simply referred to as lupus, is a chronic autoimmune disease that occurs when the body's immune system attacks its own healthy tissues, according to the National Institutes of Health. This attack causes inflammation and can affect the skin, joints, heart, lungs, kidneys, blood cells and brain.

T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders are a rare group of lymphoid tumors that can cause skin lesions, masses in other organs, leukemia or other conditions, according to the National Library of Medicine.

Halsey said both "are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life."

They continued: "After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to."

The "Without Me" singer has been previously diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).

On Tuesday, Halsey also announced a new album, "The End," while sharing more about their health struggles.

In a series of videos, the singer appears to be receiving infusions. "I feel like an old lady," the 29-year-old singer says in the first video. "I told myself I'm giving myself two more years to be sick. At 30, I’m having a rebirth and I'm not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have so much energy and just get to re-do my twenties in my thirties."

In the second slide, the singer documented "day one of treatment." In the final slide of her Instagram post, Halsey shared snippets of different days in the hospital spliced together, ending with her in the studio listening to what seems to be her new single.

Halsey's new song, "The End," produced by the singer-songwriter, Michael Uzowuru and Alex G, details their yearslong health struggles.

Halsey opens up about being called 'crazy, anxious and lazy' before recent health diagnoses

"Every couple of years now, a doctor says I'm sick / Pulls out a brand new bag of tricks / And then they lay it on me / And at first, it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain / And I don't like to complain, but I'm saying sorry," Halsey sings.

In the outro to "The End," the three-time Grammy nominee sings, "When I met you, I said I would never die / But the joke was always mine 'cause I'm racing against time / And I know it's not the end of the world, but could you pick me up at 8? / 'Cause my treatment starts today."
