Hazy conditions are expected over parts of Singapore over a few hours on Wednesday evening (11 April), said the National Environment Agency (NEA).

This is due to a hotspot with “dense smoke plume” in the southeastern part of Johor which was detected in the afternoon, said the agency.

The smoke haze from the hotspot is being blown by the easterly winds towards Singapore, and members of the public may also detect a “burning smell”, it added.

The 24-hour PSI is forecast to be in the higher end of the Moderate range. As at 5pm, the 24-hr PSI reading was 48-57, in the Moderate range.

NEA is monitoring the air quality closely and will provide updates on any changes in the situation.
