Heavy rains cause major power outages in seven Ukrainian oblasts, repair efforts underway

Severe weather with heavy rains and thunderstorms has caused power outages, leaving over 81,000 consumers in 360 settlements without electricity in Ukraine, the Energy Ministry reported on Facebook late on June 12.

The majority of blackouts occurred in Kyiv Oblast, where 58,800 customers in 305 settlements were affected. In the nearby Chernihiv Oblast, a total of 17,100 customers in 36 settlements have no electricity supply.

Another 2,700 households in 15 settlements in Sumy Oblast, 1,447 in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, and 910 in Zhytomyr Oblast remain without power.

Repair efforts are underway, and some progress has been made, with power restored to more than 10,000 consumers in Khmelnytskyi and Cherkasy oblasts.
