Helicopter carrying Iran’s president suffers a ‘hard landing,’ state TV says, and rescue is underway

Iranian state TV aired footage of President Ebrahim Raisi on a visit to the country's northeast on Sunday before his helicopter reportedly suffered a “hard landing”. Raisi was traveling in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province and was shown to be alongside Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian. State TV said the incident happened near Jolfa, a city on the border with with the nation of Azerbaijan, some 600 kilometers (375 miles) northwest of the Iranian capital, Tehran. Footage showed Raisi meeting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during his visit to the border area.
