Hill House boss's new Netflix horror show gets first trailer
Netflix has released the first trailer for The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan's new show The Fall of the House of Usher.
Starring Mark Hamill, the eight-episode miniseries, which is based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe, is set for release on October 12 - just in time for spooky season.
The tense new trailer sees Hamill's character, who is described as "a character surprisingly at home in the shadows", interacting with a host of Flanaverse regulars.

As we see in the trailer, Flanagan favourites Carla Gugino, T'Nia Miller, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli and Samantha Sloyan all feature in the series.
Featuring lots of horror and elements of gore, one notable scene from the trailer sees Gugino's character licking her hand as one bloody eyeball hangs from its socket.
Based on Edgar Allan Poe's 1839 short story The Fall of the House of Usher as well as others, Flanagan describes the new show as "a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe".
"Ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth," reads the synopsis.

Heading up the series are Bruce Greenwood and Mary McDonnell who star as Roderick Usher and his twin sister Madeline respectively.
Previously tweeting about the upcoming series, Flanagan, creator of Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Bly Manor, said: "This miniseries is a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe. To tell this epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy, we have assembled the largest ensemble cast in the history of Intrepid Pictures."
The Fall of the House of Usher will stream on Netflix from October 12.
