HKTV: We're not signing new artistes in 2014

29 Nov – Previously, TVB actor Sunny Chan revealed that he is looking at different options and more time for his family and his autistic son Edgar, which hinted that he may not renew his contract with TVB.

The 46-year-old actor also indirectly expressed his interest in joining HKTV, saying, "They're experiencing some changes now, but I have no issue with that. As long as there is freedom for us artistes and the creative division doesn't shut down, I anticipate collaborating with them."

It was reported that the actor planned to transfer to HKTV in 2014 if everything works out.

However, according to HK Channel website, a representative of HKTV recently revealed that they are not signing new artistes in 2014 and 2015.

The representative stated, "There shouldn't be any new artistes coming in. However, we will honour our contracts with already signed artistes and they will still get paid even if our productions fail to be broadcasted."

HKTV recently had to dismiss 320 staff and cancel the production of their new series, "Night Shift", after the failure to obtain a free-to-air TV license. However, despite the blow, the drama division is still running and planning new scripts.
