Hollyoaks airs character return as Cindy struggles with her mental health

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has aired the return of Luke Morgan as part of Cindy Cunningham's ongoing storyline

Fans will remember Luke Morgan died tragically last year, falling off a cliff in Mallorca ahead of his wedding to Cindy. He had previously been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and had been deteriorating prior to his death.

However, recent weeks have seen Cindy begin to hallucinate after she suffered a worrying mental health relapse.

Friday's first look (July 14) episode ended with Cindy believing that her late fiancé was still alive after she stopped taking her bipolar medication.

Pouring out two glasses of champagne, Cindy handed one to her vision of Luke and promised that life was going to be fun from now on.

"See I told you i'd come back if you stopped taking them pills," Luke said to her.

"I've waited so long for you to come back, I love you Luke Morgan," she replied.

Earlier on, Cindy could be seen visibly struggling, ignoring calls from imprisoned Grace Black in favour of arranging a date with Dave Chen-Williams.

She later revealed to a horrified Tom Cunningham that she'd forged his signature in order to sell the market at a loss to Rafe, leading to the pair falling out over Cindy's actions and comments.
