Hollyoaks has revealed details on Imran Maalik's return story.

Imran has been away from Chester since late last year seeking professional treatment for an eating disorder, though viewers have seen him sporadically helping best mate Juliet through her cancer diagnosis.

In scenes set to air next week, the Maaliks plan a big homecoming party for Imran when he announces he's coming for another visit.

However, Misbah soon has even better news for the family. She reveals the clinic staff feel Imran has made so much progress that he can continue his treatment as an outpatient.

Imran leans on his faith when he makes the difficult adjustment to coming home, leading to a difficult moment when Misbah suggests he shouldn't fast for Ramadan this year.

He turns to friends Juliet and Brooke for support and receives some important advice from Zain about faith that encourages Imran to be more independent.

Later, Imran agrees to help newcomer Rayne with a social media video, though he eventually backs out when he finds out it's being filmed in the gym.

Instead, Imran joins Brooke and Juliet for a game of soldiers in the park.

As the old friends catch up and have fun, Juliet gives Imran some advice that encourages him to be more open about his experiences.
