Hollyoaks confirms Eric Foster's sentence ahead of on-screen return

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has confirmed Eric Foster's sentence ahead of the villain making his on-screen return.

Foster (played by Angus Castle-Doughty) made his debut in the soap a year ago, leading to a storyline centring on misogyny and incel culture. In January, Eric staged a terrifying siege at The Dog which led to his eventual arrest.

Eric has been behind bars since the siege but his actions still loom large over the village. Tony, Eric's brother, has been particularly struggling with the recent events and has started sleepwalking.

On tonight's episode (March 28), Tony and Maxine were nervously awaiting the outcome of Eric's sentencing. The night before, Beau had found Tony in his car after sleepwalking but in the morning Tony urged his son not to tell Diane.

But later, when Diane gets in the car, she sees that the last address on the sat nav is the prison where Eric is being held. A shocked Diane then confronts Tony, asking him if he's been to see his brother.

While Tony tries to avoid telling her the truth, Beau blurts out that his dad's been sleepwalking and he was the one who ransacked the pub the other night.

Tony tells Diane that he didn't want to tell her because she's been so through much already but an emotional Diane says she should have noticed something was wrong.

As the couple hug, Maxine comes in and informs them she's heard from the lawyers that Eric's sentencing is about to happen. As they wait for the news, Maxine worries that the judge will go easy on Eric.

However moments later Maxine receives a text from the lawyer saying that Eric has received 15 years. While Maxine is still anxious, Tony says this is the moment of closure they all need in order to move on from what happened and they can feel safer knowing Eric won't be back.

Unfortunately for Tony, Maxine and Diane, their peace is set to be short-lived as Hollyoaks has confirmed Eric will be making a return. In upcoming scenes Eric's story will intertwine with Juliet Nightingale's cancer storyline, as he makes James Nightingale a tempting offer.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
