Hollyoaks confirms new story for Darren Osborne

Hollyoaks has confirmed a sad new story for Darren Osborne, as he feels the pressure of his financial worries.

In new scenes on the soap next week, Darren's dad Jack's birthday is fast approaching, but money is tight in the Osborne household, and Darren is stressed as he worries about how he'll afford to throw his dad a party.

Tony and Diane Hutchinson come up with a way to help Darren bring in tips and get his mojo back at the same time. Unfortunately, their plan isn't as successful as they'd hoped.

As a result, the landlord and landlady make an offer to Darren, saying that they'll host Jack's party at The Dog free of charge.

Things get worse for Darren when a debt collector calls at his home looking for him. When Charlie Dean tells her that Darren is working, they turn up at the pub searching for him. Tony and Pearl Anderson cover for Darren, before Tony confronts Darren over what's going on with him.

Darren admits that things are really bad for him at the moment. He's running out of time to find money to cover his debt but, not wanting to open up about the extent of his problems, he pushes Tony and Pearl away.

There's a ray of light when Jack is blown away by his surprise party at The Dog which Darren has arranged.

However, Darren's dealt another blow when he gets a call from wife Nancy telling him how much the final medical bill for their baby daughter, Morgan, is going to be following her treatment in the US.

An already struggling Darren is filled with panic, as he wonders how he's going to afford this.

Things take another turn at the party when a gift from Pearl doesn't quite go to plan, as it's revealed that she has mistakenly booked a stripper for Jack instead of a tribute act...

Darren's mental health story was also revisited recently, as he tried to help Charlie with his own feelings.

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
