Hollyoaks' Eric issues dark threat to Maxine ahead of spiking incident

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has aired a new twist in the radicalised misogyny storyline in tonight's (October 11) first-look episode on E4.

The episode followed Maxine Minniver's recent collapse, which saw her black out and wake up outside.

After being checked out by Misbah Maalik and told there was no sexual assault, Maxine remembered Eric Foster standing over her and calling her pathetic.

She went to confront him outdoors, accusing him of targeting her and writing sexist messages about her. Verity Hutchinson defended her brother, asking if she had anything to back up her claims.

Eric stated that he just came across Maxine and went to get her some water, but she had disappeared before he got back. Verity believed him and stated that Maxine's dislike of Eric over his previous rudeness was clouding her judgement and demanded she apologise. After Maxine said she couldn't, Verity fired her.

Returning to Eric's caravan, Maxine stated that she still believes he did it, and while Eric initially tried to paint himself as a nice guy who people treat badly because they think he's creepy, his facade soon drooped and he threatened that Maxine "may not be so lucky" if a similar incident happens in the future.

This storyline is going to ramp up even further next week, when Eric targets another character with a drink spiking incident, but he will also do something else that might finally cause more people to cotton on to his true nature.

There's also the fact that Eric has turned on Mason Chen-Williams after a disagreement. Will the youngster help to stop Eric and/or the hate-fuelled internet forum he frequents?
