Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

James Nightingale made a shock confession to Ste Hay on Hollyoaks tonight (April 3) following his dodgy deal with Eric Foster.

The lawyer has been speaking with the incarcerated criminal over the past few days, with the convict wishing to acquire James’ services in an attempt to reduce his sentence.

James has sought to use the money to fund Juliet’s cancer treatment, but resorted to petty crime on Friday (March 31) by stealing a necklace from Eric’s caravan.

After Juliet found out she didn’t need to go to Germany for the treatment, James attempted to back out of his deal with Eric, but the deviant criminal blackmailed him by revealing he had evidence of James going to the pawnbroker with police evidence.

In tonight’s episode, James attempted to cover his tracks by bribing the pawn shop owner to delete the CCTV evidence, but he refused and subsequently left James in a pickle.

With Ste undertaking dance lessons in preparation for their wedding, he attempted to get his fiancé to partake, suggesting that Maxine can cover James’ meeting at the prison.

Feeling backed into a corner, James eventually relented and informed Ste that the new client was indeed Eric, leaving him shocked that James would take the money given Eric’s actions.

Explaining that James had betrayed the trust of him and Leela, James pleaded by asking what Ste would have done for his family, to which he responded: “Anything but this.”

As they regrouped back at the house, James fessed up to Ste by admitting his theft at the caravan, but Ste issued him with an ultimatum – drop Eric as a client or risk their relationship crumbling…

Elsewhere in the episodes, there was progress for two relationships in the village, with Romeo and Rayne getting over recent bumps in the road, along with Felix and Mercedes.

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
