Hollyoaks kicks off big Rose Lomax story in new episode

Hollyoaks spoilers follow from Thursday's episode on Channel 4 streaming, which doesn't air on E4 until Friday.

Hollyoaks has started airing a big storyline centred on Rose Lomax as the character has been recently recast.

Now played by Ava Webster, Tony and Diane Hutchinson's daughter went missing in the episode available for streaming on the Channel 4 website tonight (October 19).

As Diane was busy sprucing up The Dog for Rose, Ant and Dee Dee's birthday party, Tony couldn't help but be upset over a disparaging article exposing all the Hutchinsons' skeletons in the closet.

Unbeknownst to him, it was Jack who dished all to an eager journalist. When the reporter called at The Dog to get Tony's side of the story, Jack came clean, insisting the writer must've used "some Jedi tricks" to get him to talk.

Seeing their parents arguing with Jack, Dee Dee snapped at Rose, saying none of that would've happened if Rose hadn't taken her place when they were born. The two girls were famously switched at birth by a nurse who was drunk on the job.

Dee Dee's harsh words prompted Rose to run away, an unsettling discovery for Diane and Tony right as they were ready to take a family photo together.

"She's run away," Dee Dee informed her parents, as the final scene saw Rose letting herself into the school using Beau Ramsey's card.

Diane actress Alex Fletcher previously revealed to Digital Spy that Hollyoaks is set to kick off a huge storyline for the Hutchinsons, with a focus on Rose.

"This story is gonna be a slow burn, and like I said, I think people are going to really invest in Rose's character," she said.

"She's just gorgeous and I think when the audience see what she's going to go through, they're going to really feel it with her. "

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
