Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer received praise after surprising his co-star Owen Warner with his new song.

Malique, who plays Prince McQueen, and Owen, who plays Romeo Nightingale, show just how close they are in a sweet video shared on social media where Owen couldn't be happier for his friend's budding music career.

Malique shared a short video with his 317,000 Instagram followers of him and I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! runner-up Owen sitting on the sofa chilling.

In a Gogglebox style set up with a camera in the corner of the room, the video shows Malique linking his new song 'Who You Are' to a speaker that plays it into the room while Owen is on his laptop.

As Malique starts moving along to his song, the camera zooms in on Owen's face as he looks both shocked and puzzled, realising the song in Malique's.

The video is captioned: "Seeing @_owenwarner reaction to my new song has got me even more gassed to release it!

"I need everyone to go subscribe and have a listen to it on youtube!"

The Instagram video has over 7,000 likes, with the Youtube audio for the song hitting around 1,000 views since it was uploaded on March 9.

Owen told him to "turn it to 100" once he acknowledged it was his friend and co-star, wanting the song to be as loud as possible, calling it: "A hard tune."

Hollyoaks actor Rory Douglas-Speed, who plays Joel Dexter in the soap, commented under the video: "Cutest video on the internet".

As did fellow cast mate Ashling O'Shea, aka Nadira Valli in the show, who said: "This is so wholesome. Congrats man", and alumnus of the soap Parry Glasspool, who played Harry Thompson in over 300 hundred episodes, added: "You love to see it."

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
