Mercedes McQueen will grow suspicious about newcomer Abe in new Hollyoaks scenes.
The soap recently dropped a bombshell that Abe Fielding is the long-lost half-brother of Joel Dexter – and was dating Joel's ex girlfriend Cleo McQueen.
The situation has only grown more complicated since Abe has betrayed Cleo by sleeping with her cousin Theresa McQueen.
In scenes airing next week, Cleo and Theresa are at odds over whether the latter betrayed Cleo by sleeping with her ex-boyfriend.
Cleo warns Abe she wants him out of her life, before receiving a disturbing phone call that could change everything.

Mercedes has been watching this family feud play out, so she gets involved to share her suspicions about Abe.
As Mercy arranges a secret meeting with Joel for information about his estranged brother, the pair have no clue Abe is spying on them from behind the shrubs.
Later, Abe directly catches Mercedes in the act rifling through his locker at the Youth Center. Abe tries to smooth things over, explaining that he's well aware of Cleo's mental health history (including her bulimia).
Will Abe manage to win over Mercedes?
In advance of these dramatic scenes, Abe actor Tyler Conti confirmed that his character plans to use Cleo's past traumas to his advantage.

"I think an opportunist is a great way to describe him," the actor said. "I don't necessarily see him as a complete psychopath with no remorse or empathy towards people, but I think he often finds information about people like Cleo's past and even though he feels sorry for this person, he once again manipulates that and uses that to get what he wants.
"I don't even know if sometimes he's necessarily aware of him doing it. I think because of his childhood and because of his upbringing and environment, how he was taught to get things is by using people and I think that's what he does. He cares a lot for Cleo and he's like, oh my god, that history is horrible. I can't believe it. At the same time, he knows that he can use that because he always wants to get what he wants. He's kind of power hungry, it's like textbook narcissist stuff."
Tyler also addressed whether Abe should be worried about Mercedes exposing his true intentions to Cleo and Theresa.
"I think Abe thinks that he has met people like Mercedes before, I think he is good with his words, and can find his way out of anything," he said.
"A typical gaslighter that, if he keeps on saying no, if he just keeps on lying, no one's going to find him out. He thinks he can worm his way around Mercedes, and the McQueens. He has dealt with a lot of stuff in his life, so I think this isn't really anything too drastic for him. He's got other fish to fry at the moment."
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
