Hollyoaks offer first look at Luke Morgan's return

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has offered a first look at Gary Lucy's return as Luke Morgan.

It was confirmed earlier in the year that Gary would be reprising his role as Luke for a brief stint.

Luke passed away in heartbreaking scenes last summer after falling off a cliff in Mallorca. He had been living with frontotemporal dementia at the time.

This means that Luke is not be back from the dead in a literal sense, but will be appearing as a vision as part of Cindy's story.

Next week's scenes will see fears grow for Cindy, who is suffering from a mental health relapse.

She tells Tom that she has committed fraud by signing his name and has also sold the market with its debt, leaving them with no profit.

Horrified by Cindy's actions, Tom cuts all ties with her.

Cindy then heads out on a date with Dave, where it becomes clear just how unwell she really is.

These brand new pictures show her dancing with Luke as part of her distorted reality.

By the end of the week, Cindy is in hospital and her family are rallying around to support her.

Tom feels guilty for not recognising that Cindy was struggling sooner, while Tony berates Dave for taking her drinking while she was having an episode.

As Tom urges them all to pull together for Cindy's sake, things take a worrying turn in the hospital when her mood quickly changes.

Speaking about Luke's return scenes, Stephanie Waring – who plays Cindy – said: "When I said goodbye to Gary, I never thought he would ever be back, but thanks to Cindy this has been made possible.

"I’m really looking forward to the fans seeing how we tackled this. It is nostalgic but also very very sad."

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
