Hollyoaks star Anna Passey teases possible new love interest for Sienna

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Anna Passey has teased the prospect of a new love interest for Sienna Blake.

Next month will see Chris Gordon join the soap, with The Crown star set to play the role of Rafe, a regular at the café who meets Sienna at the Chester races.

In an interview with Inside Soap, Passey revealed that love could be in the air for her character, albeit in unorthodox ways: “I can tell you that it’s not as straightforward as it seems. It’s not a clear-cut situation.

“It’s a very complicated situation which goes awry and results in a potential new love interest,” she continued. “Ethan and Sienna are solid [as] they love each other, but life with [her] is chaotic – things just seem to happen to her. I think this is one of those situations where nothing is intentional – it’s an accidental love interest.”

Passey, who joined the Channel 4 soap in 2012, expressed her excitement at being able to work with Gordon upon his announcement last month, saying: “We are so excited to have Chris join the cast. He is a wonderful actor, and is bringing something completely new to the village with Rafe.

“We are already having so much fun with this storyline, and I cannot wait for the audience to meet our suave and mysterious Rafe. Chris is an absolute dream to work with – it looks like an exciting year ahead,” she added.

“Joining the team at Hollyoaks feels a bit like meeting the family of a partner you really like – a little bit intimidating, but also very fulfilling,” said Gordon of his casting. “There's a real closeness throughout the departments and I've been welcomed into the fold with grace.

“Working with Anna has been an utter joy. Not only as an actor but as a person too. Sienna's journey collides with Rafe and there's... well, fireworks!” he teased. “He's not the usual man around town. The mystery and complexity of a road less travelled is something I'm really looking forward to playing and sharing with the fans.”

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.

Selected omnibus episodes are available via Prime Video.
