Hollyoaks star Owen Warner confirms Romeo will turn against Rayne

Hollyoaks star Owen Warner has spoken about his character Romeo Nightingale's motive in the Rayne Royce murder mystery.

The soap launches a huge new whodunit storyline this week as Rayne is found dead during her lavish party at a luxury mansion.

Romeo has been in a relationship with Rayne for the past few months, but their partnership has taken a disturbing turn recently due to Rayne's controlling and abusive behaviour.

This makes Romeo one of the suspects when a murder investigation begins following Rayne's death.

Speaking about the new storyline, Owen explained: "I think the question more should be what isn't Romeo's motive! He's got so many motives, he's been in a pretty horrible relationship for a while and he's not been aware of it.

"He has been getting emotionally manipulated, physically abused, emotionally abused. Everybody has been trying to tell him, but he has not realised it until right here in this beautiful house.

"He sees, finally, Rayne's true colours. I think that's his motivation, really – seeing the glass breaking, the wall coming down and he sees what she has been doing to him for months and months."

Owen also suggested that Rayne's best friend Lacey Lloyd could be one to watch as the twists and turns unfold.

Asked who he thinks the culprit will be, Owen replied: "This is a sticky one. I feel like everyone has their motives, haven't they? Everyone could come for Rayne in some way.

"But I think that it is Lacey. When you think about it, Rayne for so long has lied to her about Brent being dead. She has been living with this trauma for so long. And all of a sudden, BOSH, years and years of being upset, has gone away because he is still alive.

"It's got to be her. I reckon she did it."

Hollyoaks fans have the chance to enjoy 90 minutes of drama today (September 25) as the show's new scheduling pattern begins.

A new episode is available to watch on Channel 4's free streaming service right now, which will get its TV airing on E4 at 7pm.

At 7.30pm, an exciting hour-long episode will premiere on Channel 4's streaming service ahead of its broadcast on E4 tomorrow (September 26).

From Monday, September 25, Hollyoaks will stream first online via Channel 4 each weekday. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
