Hollyoaks star teases return to filming after maternity leave

Hollyoaks star Jessamy Stoddart has teased that she's heading back to the village, after sharing an emotional Instagram post confirming that her maternity leave has come to an end.

The actress has been off our screens since last December, when her character, Liberty Savage, jetted off to New Zealand with daughter Faith to take on a new job.

The star shared a sweet post on Instagram featuring a photo of her baby daughter, Joni, who is wearing a cardigan with her name sewn on the back, and wrote about her feelings on leaving maternity leave behind.

And just like that, it's my last day of maternity leave... I'm not crying, you are," she wrote, alongside some crying emojis.

"The past 10 months have been everything I've dreamed of and more. Here's to the next chapter kiddo, forever proud of you".

The actress received plenty of support in the comments from her co-stars, with Sienna Blake star Anna Passey writing, "This picture! Standing lady!! Selfishly we are excited to have you back".

Misbah Maalik star Harvey Virdi commented, "But can't wait to have you back xxx", while Nancy Osborne actress Jessica Fox - who has just returned from maternity leave herself - wrote, "An unbreakable bond".

Jessamy and her husband, Ryan O'Gorman, first announced that they were expecting their first child in August 2022, before sharing the news of their daughter Joni's birth in January this year.

"After every storm comes a rainbow and this rainbow came on the anniversary of us first finding out we were pregnant. We are besotted," the actress wrote following their baby's arrival.

Before Liberty left Hollyoaks behind, she appeared to suggest that she would return to potentially pursue a relationship with Damon Kinsella, but Damon has since departed the village himself for New York City.

How will Liberty feel when she returns home to find that plenty has changed while she's been away?

Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
