Hollyoaks stars tease Christmas storyline for Sienna and Ethan

Hollyoaks stars Anna Passey and Matthew James-Bailey have dropped further hints about the huge twists still to come for their characters, Sienna Blake and Ethan Williams.
The actors, whose characters have spent the past few months embroiled in a scam to con wealthy Rafe Harcourt out of his fortune, teased that fans can expect high drama around the festive period this year.
Speaking to the Daily Star at the Inside Soap Awards 2023, Passey revealed that "Christmas is a big one" for Sienna and Ethan's plot.

"I'm looking forward to Christmas now," she said. "We're just reading the scripts and that's probably when the audience are going to first start getting an inkling that things aren't perhaps what they seem."
Her co-star James-Bailey added that his "jaw was on the floor" while reading the upcoming scripts, saying that he is "very, very excited to see how that goes down".
Passey also spoke about the "twist and turns" coming up in the Rafe storyline, promising that "it's actually something quite different to what we've seen so far".
"When I heard about this storyline, I listened for 45 minutes straight. I had goosebumps," she teased. "And to be able to have that reaction after this long here is incredible."

The actress, who has played Sienna since 2012, also spoke about how "grateful" she is that the soap's writers keep finding new plots for her to get involved with, saying: "It's so nice that I can still be surprised by what I'm reading after 11 years".
Passey and James-Bailey also spoke to Digital Spy on the red carpet about what's coming up for Sienna and Ethan, with Passey confirming that "this storyline is something completely different" to what the audience might be expecting.
"We've got all the games that we want from Sienna and Ethan and our other players in that story," she said. "But I think it's going to be a shock to people."

Sienna and Ethan's scam, which involves Sienna seducing Rafe in the hopes of marrying him and then stealing his fortune, has become further complicated as Sienna has been developing real feelings for Rafe.
Ethan, meanwhile, has been caught up with Rafe's sister, Dilly, who recently dropped the bombshell that Rafe is dying.
Hollyoaks streams first online via Channel 4 each weekday at 7.30pm. Episodes then air on E4 the following day, before getting their YouTube premiere a week after that.
