Actors Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt are behind a major production that will document the racing action and fan excitement of the Isle of Man TT.

Production on the series The Greatest Show on Earth started this week and will continue throughout the festival.

Screenwriter Jason Keller has been announced as the screenwriter for a proposed TT feature film that will go to market later this year.

James Gay-Rees, co-Founder of series producers Box To Box Films, said the team "can’t wait to bring this incredible world to new audiences".

'Awe inspiring'

Alongside Box to Box, the series is being produced by Tatum’s Free Association, Pitt’s Plan B, Entertainment 360, and Keller.

Tatum's visit to the TT last year, when he met with several riders and teams and took in the action from around the course, had sparked hopes the production of a TT film could be on the cards.

In a statement he and his fellow Free Association principles Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan said: “We dare anyone to find more awe-inspiring people, or a more breathtakingly vibrant world than the Isle of Man TT."

"We’ve always been drawn to characters who push the edge of what’s possible, and this race is their Shangri-La," it added.

The group will also be joined by Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady and Jason Keller on producing any future feature film about the TT.

Keller previously wrote Ford v Ferrari starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, and Casady is a four-times Emmy award winning producer with Game of Thrones, as well as working on films such as Steve Jobs and The Fall Guy.
