Home and Away legend Lynne McGranger reveals how she'd want Irene to leave the show

Home and Away legend Lynne McGranger has revealed how she would want Irene Roberts to depart the show.

The actress, who has played the character for the last 30 years, spoke to Stuff about her time on the Australian soap, and spoke of her hypothetical exit plans.

"I want to go with the biggest bang – the most dramatic exit," she said. "I want to get lost at sea, or I want to die a really sad, lengthy death with everyone weeping and wailing around me.

"Irene could get lost at sea and they never find the body, have the memorial service and everything and then she walks back into town," she continued.

Whilst Lynne’s exit isn’t happening anytime soon, both Patrick O'Connor and Sophie Dillman recently shared a goodbye message to fans after their respective stints as Dean Thompson and Ziggy Astoni.

"Well my friends my time as a river boy has come to an end," wrote Patrick. "To @louise.bowes the woman who made it all possible, what a character you made. A boy from a broken family, now a man off on [a] new adventure of raising his own. Thank you for inducting me into the Blood & Sand."

"I never dreamed I would be lucky enough to work as an actor, let alone score the best job, in the best place with the best people," wrote Sophie, who had played Ziggy for six years. "Every day I played Ziggy, she inspired me to do better as an actor and as a woman.

"Thank you to everyone who created her. Thank you to the cast and crew. I miss you everyday but I'm sure you don't miss me screaming down the corridors without my shoes on," she continued.
