Home and Away's Alf Stewart to seek help over his hearing

Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian-pace episodes.

Home and Away favourite Alf Stewart is going to seek help for his hearing difficulties this week.

John had previously noticed Alf was having issues with his hearing, but Alf promptly told him to leave him alone.

In scenes set to air over the coming days down under (via TV Week), Justin Morgan also goes to Alf and tries to encourage him to seek some help for his hearing.

Although he's initially defensive, Alf eventually admits that he might need medical assistance and decides to quit the Surf Club – effective immediately.

A shocked Justin goes to Dr Bree Cameron and eventually manages to convince her to talk to Alf. On her advice, Alf reluctantly undergoes some tests, with the conclusion being that he might need hearing aids.

Alf's confidence takes a huge blow and he admits to feeling absolutely helpless, but Marilyn Chambers promises to provide support.

In another storyline this week, Irene Roberts has been feeling lonely since John moved out and is thrilled that someone has responded to her advert for her spare room.

She meets Harper, a social worker on an extended holiday, and the duo hit it off. John watches them getting along and is clearly concerned.

Is he right to be suspicious, and if so, what is Harper's deal?

While the soap is keeping Harper's backstory under wraps, she and her sister Dana are sure to mix things up a bit, as teased by Jessica Redmayne and Ally Harris, who play Harper and Dana respectively.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
