Home and Away's Emily Weir reunites with former co-star Tim Franklin

Home and Away star Emily Weir has reunited with her former co-star Tim Franklin for a series of photographs on the red carpet.

Weir, whose character Mackenzie Booth still appears on the soap, took to Instagram to share the cute snaps with Franklin, who played Colby Thorne between 2018 and 2020.

The pair were there to celebrate the premiere of the Paramount+ miniseries The Last King of the Cross, which Franklin stars in as a police officer.

In the carousel of pictures the pair pose side by side as Weir beams up at her former co-star, and in the last snap they are joined by the show's director Ian Watson.

Franklin, whose character Colby was a policeman, also took to Instagram to share the pics joking that he was, once again, cast in the same role.

"The Last King of the Cross – check it out on Paramount + I play a cop again #typecast," he captioned his post.

During their time together on Home and Away, Weir and Franklin's characters Mackenzie and Colby were involved in an on-again/ off-again relationship and fans were quick to express their desire for the pair to reunite on-screen once more.

Last year, Weir opened up about her struggles with alcohol addiction telling Who Magazine that she used drink to combat her anxiety.

"I was self-medicating with red wine, but I managed to hide it all really well," she admitted.

"I ignored the issue because I wanted to travel and party with my friends, like most people in their early 20s. I started drinking more at that time because it combated the anxiety and all my fears dissipated. But I became reliant on booze."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
